Double glazed units are made up of two panes of glass divided by a space bar. The gap between the two panes of glass is filled with insulating gas and then completely sealed, therefore becoming an insulated glass unit.

The sealed gas inside the unit acts as an insulator separating the interior of your home from the exterior; this acts as a benefit as it restricts the amount of cold air coming into your home, the sealed gas and the two panes of glass allow double glazed units to maintain internal temperatures; keeping your home warmer in winter and cool in summer months, reducing the rate of heat loss by around 55%!

Double-glazed glass offers benefits that single-glazed glass cannot compete with, such as, preventing condensation. As the inside pane of glass remains at room temperature, the formation of condensation and growth of mould is avoided.

According to GOV.UK heat is lost through single glazing twice as fast as through double glazing and by installing double glazing throughout your home, you can save up to £155 a year on your gas bill! Allowing your home to become more energy efficient.

Double Glazed Units

The unit can be placed in a uPVC or timber frame, which can be used in windows or doors.

These units are made to measure/order and can have different thicknesses of between … and … can be self-cleaning minimising their maintenance.

2002 Government regulations committed to reducing carbon emissions, therefore making the UK more energy efficient. To do this, all replacement windows must be a minimum of C-rated; our units help towards this commitment.

Other benefits to double glazing are:

  • They act as a barrier to noise, reducing the amount of outdoor noise entering your home, as well as internal noise leaving the home.
  • As the unit has multiple panes of glass, it allows the window to be more durable, adding protection and increasing home safety.
  • Even though there are multiple panes of glass, it still allows for a seamless transmission of light to enter through the windows. As opposed to triple glazed windows which block out too much light and single glazed windows which allow too much light in, increasing the fading of carpets and furniture.

Double glazed units are guaranteed to add value to your home, whilst also reducing your energy costs and allowing your property to become overall energy efficiency.

Only double-glazed units have a 5-year guarantee.  Except for the slim line units
